Mark Lancaster, Chief Executive Officer

Mark-LancasterMark Lancaster founded SDL in 1992 having identified the need for a service and technology provider to help companies internationalize and expand their businesses globally. The convergence of the social, mobile, Web world has created a new and complex consumer-driven economy in which Mark saw further opportunity for companies to differentiate themselves by delivering relevant customer experiences. 

Through numerous acquisitions and significant R&D, Mark has turned SDL into the leading global business that helps companies to engage more effectively with their customers across the entire customer journey. SDL’s technology and services help brands to predict what their customers want and engage with them across multiple languages, cultures, channels and devices. 

Mark studied electrical engineering and computer architectures at Hatfield University before becoming a software design engineer at Satchwell Control Systems and Lotus Development Corporation. He later became international development director at Ashton-Tate. He is now responsible for the strategic direction and development of the SDL Group.

Bernadette Nixon, President, Customer Experience, Content & Analytics

Bernadette-NixonBernadette is an experienced global leader with 20 years of experience in enterprise software sales, marketing, and business unit leadership and an excellent track record in growing and turning around businesses. She was most recently the SVP BPM Business Unit for OpenText and prior to that Bernadette held various senior management positions at CA Technologies, including running a $720M book of business in the Northeast and Canada, and managing the transformation of CA’s global digital demand generation marketing activities. 

Bernadette served as the special advisor to the chief information officer at the United Nations in Geneva, spearheading the perimeter defense strategy at the dawn of the Web. 

Bernadette earned a bachelor’s degree in business studies from the University of Hertfordshire, England. She was also one of the co-founders of the Women’s Executive Roundtable in Boston. Bernadette is married and her hobbies include boating, photography and soon to be helicopter pilot in training.

Dominic Kinnon, President, Customer Experience, Language Solutions

Dominic-KinnonDominic Kinnon joined SDL in 1997. During his time with SDL, Dominic has evolved his group from providing pure translation services to an organization that delivers high value, language related solutions to customers worldwide. As CEO for SDL Language Solutions, Dominic leads an organization of more than 1700 professionals across 34 countries. 

Prior to SDL, Dominic worked within the petrochemical industry in Europe, the US and Middle East and subsequently spent a number of years in Business Consulting helping companies develop their management potential and improve their operational performance. 

Dominic is also a trustee of the SDL Foundation that provides support for sustainable, structural development that improves the quality of life for disadvantaged communities around the globe.

Dennis van der Veeke, Chief Technology Officer

Dennis-van-der-VeekeDennis has a wealth of 22+ years of experience in the software development space. At Logica, Dennis headed up the Business Solutions unit which focused on Microsoft, Business Intelligence and Enterprise Content Management related business. At Exact Software, Dennis was the director of the Exact International Development organization based in Malaysia, Ireland and the Netherlands. 

In 2008, Dennis joined SDL as the CTO for the SDL Web Content Management Solutions division, as well taking the lead role to bring the various development teams together across the group. In November 2010, SDL appointed Dennis CTO of the SDL Group.

Paige O'Neill, Chief Marketing Officer

Paige-ONeilAs Chief Marketing Officer of SDL, Paige brings almost 20 years of experience in senior marketing roles. She uniquely combines product marketing expertise with an extensive background in communications and PR and a passion for developing thought leadership programs that build strong awareness and differentiate companies from the competition. 

Prior to SDL, Paige served for over three years as Vice President of Marketing for integrated marketing leader Aprimo. Her thought leadership, messaging, demand generation and communications programs contributed to rapid growth and a successful acquisition by Teradata. Paige also served as the CMO for two early-stage startups, Aravo Solutions and GreenRoad Technologies, as well as for PHH Arval, where her efforts contributed to an acquisition attempt by GE. Prior to PHH, Paige spent a decade at Oracle Corporation leading a variety of marketing initiatives.

Roddy Temperley, Global Head of Human Resources

Roddy-TemperleyRoddy Temperley comes with a wealth of experience having led global Human Resource teams, most recently at Credit Suisse. Prior to that Roddy spent a number of years at SAP, PeopleSoft, Peregrine and Unisys. Roddy‘s expertise in human resource management in progressive high tech businesses will help SDL to continue to grow and build skills and structure in the cutting edge and fast moving market of global customer experience management.

Dominic Lavelle, Chief Financial Officer

Dominic-LavelleDominic Lavelle is a qualified Chartered Accountant who joined SDL in November 2013. Previously,Dominic has held senior executive and CFO roles within a number of private and publicly traded companies including Mothercare plc, Oasis plc, Allders plc and Alfred McAlpine plc, where his roles have encompassed commercial, operational and strategic responsibilities. He has more than 25 years senior financial experience and is responsible for all financial matters.

David Clayton, Non-Executive Chairman of SDL PLC

David-ClaytonDavid Clayton was appointed Non-executive Chairman of SDL PLC in 1 July 2013. He joined SDL as a Non-executive Director in December 2009 and served as Senior Independent Director from April 2012. After a career in senior executive roles at a number of international technology companies he joined BZW where, after its merger with CSFB in 1997, he was Managing Director and Head of European Technology Research until 2004. David Clayton joined The Sage Group plc Board in June 2004 as a Non-executive Director and took up his executive role as Director of Strategy and Corporate Development from October 2007 to February 2012.

Chris Batterham, Non-Executive Director

Chris-BatterhamChris Batterham qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Arthur Andersen and has significant experience in the technology based business environment, including the flotation of Unipalm on the London Stock Exchange. Currently working on the boards of a number of companies including The Risk Advisory Group, Office 2 Office plc, Iomart plc and Eckoh plc as Chairman, Chris brings a wealth of experience in the strategic development of companies within the IT sector.

Mandy Gradden, Non-Executive Director

Mandy Gradden was Executive VP and CFO at the privately held retail technology company Torex Retail Holdings Ltd. Mandy is a chartered accountant and was previously Group Finance Director at the FTSE 250 business and technology consultancy, Detica, prior to its acquisition by BAE Systems.

Alan McWalter, Non-Executive Director

Alan McWalter joined SDL as the Senior Independent Director on 1 March 2014. He sits on both Audit and Remuneration Committees. He is currently Chairman of Churchill China plc, and the Senior Independent Director at Dignity Plc. He also holds non-executive director positions with several private companies. Prior to this Mr McWalter has held non-executive roles in Trafficmaster Plc, Cattles Plc and Timeweaver Plc and been an executive director in a number of major companies including Thomson Consumer Electronics, Kingfisher and Marks & Spencer.

Glenn Collinson, Non-Executive Director

Glenn Collinson joined SDL as a non-executive director and Chairman of the Remuneration Committee on 1 June 2014. He also sits on the Audit Committee. He is currently a non-executive director and Chairman of the Remuneration Committee of Wolfson Microelectronics Plc, a non-executive director of Inside-Secure SA , publically listed in France, and holds non-executive director positions with other private companies. Prior to this in 1998 Mr Collinson co-founded Cambridge Silicon Radio and was a member of the board managing the company's growth through its listing in 2004, as CSR Plc, up until 2007. Over the last six years Mr Collinson has held non-executive directorships within the technology sector.
