This course presents critical aspects of S1000D so participants can understand the specification as it applies to their particular areas of concern. The majority of features and capabilities provided by the specification are presented and explained during this one-day course.
Note: this course is recommended for anyone who needs to fill in any gaps in their understanding of the higher-level concepts of technical publications development. S1000D is a cradle-to-grave methodology that requires a more complete understanding of the entire technical publications development and delivery methodology than other specifications. This course shows how S1000D fits into the technical publications development world and how it addresses the key pieces of each major capability. Therefore, it is highly recommended to include this course as part of any startup effort. Engagements where this course has been bypassed generally have greater difficulty understanding the later training content offered here.
Course structure: This is a four-module course. It provides an introduction to the major components of S1000D. Participants are not required to have prior knowledge of the subject or any experience with documentation systems, writing, XML, or documentation standards.
