Insights on Quality

Research Study 2016: Translation Technology Insights

Quality is king - but hard to achieve

More than 2,700 language professionals surveyed in the Translation Technology Insights study felt that quality is 6x more important than cost and 2.5x more important than speed. With two thirds of those polled performing rework on translated content, it is clear that the process involved to create high quality work can be a challenge.

This eBook identifies how the translation industry approaches quality, and offers advice on how to solve the key pain points for translation teams working to deliver high quality, consistent content.

Reassess terminology management

Only half of respondents say terminology management is a priority in their organization - even though the largest source of rework in translation is inconsistent terminology.

Historically building and maintaining termbases was seen as a laborious task. But technology has rapidly improved in recent years, making it easy to take advantage of terminology. You can find out how by visiting our Terminology Resource Hub.

Take an objective approach to measuring quality

60% of language professionals surveyed aren't aware that standardized quality assessment models exist, and a third don't measure quality at all.

Taking the time to define quality in terms of specific criteria and measure it offers advantages. Tools like SDL Trados Studio enable you to automate much of the review process and include analysis features to identify and solve translation issues, meaning quality can be improved without reducing productivity.
