SDL, the leading provider of Global Information Management (GIM) solutions, today announced that SDL has been chosen as the winner of the Thames Valley Business of the Year Award 2009, has been included in the EContent 100 list for companies that matter the most in the digital content industry and has helped CareerOneStop secure the Minnesota Tekne Award 2009 for IT Software and Hardware Communications and Infrastructure.
Thames Valley Business Magazine Awards (TVBMA), sponsored by law firm Pitmans, recognize companies based in the Thames Valley area that have demonstrated profitability, innovation and most importantly have made a conscious effort to support the communities in which they operate. SDL is delighted to have been chosen as the winner of Business of the Year Award and is thrilled that the SDL Foundation, a charity set up by SDL to provide support for sustainable, structural development for disadvantaged communities around the globe, was a deciding factor for the TVBMA judges.
Awards chairman David Murray said: "SDL, a previous winner in these awards, is a company with a strong sense of corporate social responsibility. It is well managed with a big commitment to maintaining and improving quality. Ninety percent of SDL’s revenues come from outside the UK – so judges were impressed with the company’s ability to achieve very resilient results in what is a global downturn."
SDL has also been nominated as a company that makes a difference to the digital content industry in the EContent Content Management category this year. SDL is the leader in Global Information Management solutions, which provide increased business agility to enterprises by accelerating the delivery of high-quality multilingual content to global markets. Michelle Manafy, Editor-in-chief, EContent says “the EContent 100 list represents the most dynamic digital content companies as chosen by a panel made up of digital content industry experts. SDL demonstrates continued leadership in the content industry, shows continued technology innovation and has made some smart acquisitions building a distinctive group of products and services. This marks the fourth consecutive year that SDL has been recognized by EContent, with specific recognition for SDL Global Authoring Management System™ and SDL Tridion® this year, proving SDL's continuous commitment and expertise in managing content.”
Last month CareerOneStop, was awarded a Minnesota Tekne Award for the re-design of its CareerOneStop website built based around a content management system from SDL Tridion. The U.S. Department of Labor-funded website integrated SDL Tridion technology in order to better serve users looking for jobs in such difficult economic times. Jan Jaap Kolleman, CEO of SDL Tridion says "CareerOneStop has been one of our best customer examples to demonstrate what Web Content Management systems and solutions from SDL Tridion can do over multiple years. We offer our congratulations to CareerOneStop on winning a Tekne for its innovative and socially useful website."
