SDL, the leading provider of Global Information Management (GIM) solutions, announced today that Agfa HealthCare has improved time-to-market by 60% with solutions from SDL. By implementing SDL MultiTerm ® to manage corporate terminology and SDL Passolo ™ for visual software localization, the leading global imaging and healthcare IT systems provider has also increased localized content quality from 75% to 95%.

“SDL Passolo and SDL MultiTerm are an integral part of our Global Information Management (GIM) strategy to accelerate time-to-market with higher consistency of global content,” says Hans Fiers, Documentation and Localization Manager, Radiology and Clinical Information Systems, Agfa HealthCare. “You need great tools and well-trained resources behind those tools to deliver localized content on time and with a high degree of quality.  The combination of SDL MultiTerm and SDL Passolo is helping to ensure Agfa HealthCare has an efficient, high-quality multilingual strategy to deal with any localization project.”

Agfa HealthCare has deployed the market-leading SDL MultiTerm solution to enable the intelligent management of the company’s centralized radiology and clinical information systems’ terms.  With both English and German as the source languages, Agfa HealthCare is using it to store terms with their associated definitions, descriptions, and images, along with their language translations.

SDL MultiTerm has enhanced output quality while simultaneously transforming the speed and effectiveness of corporate terms management.  Publication quality has increased significantly by presenting accurate, approved and standardized terms to the author, as well as highlighting forbidden terms to ensure they are not used.  Terminology is highlighted during the translation process for translator acceptance, which speeds the review cycle as translations are more accurate and consistent.  Previously, the average overall quality of first-time translation was 75%.  Today, using SDL MultiTerm, Agfa HealthCare is achieving 95% rate of quality in the translations, which cascades down into enhanced brand recognition and improved productivity.

Agfa HealthCare has extended its Global Information Management capabilities with the integration of the SDL Passolo visual software localization solution, which eases the translation of software GUIs in the radiology and clinical information management systems.  The translation of the GUI content is typically completed, with the translated words and phrases (such as ‘Click here to continue’, ‘Accept Translation’ and ‘Cancel’) using validated terms captured in SDL MultiTerm. The updates of the centralized terminology happen continuously, so that the consistent terms can also be referenced while translating the Help and Documentation.
