CNH Implements Knowledge-based Translation with SDLTemplate

Drives Best Practice in Technical Support using Innovative Translation Processes

SDL International, the world’s leading provider of translation services and technology solutions, announced today that CNH Global has successfully implemented SDL’s Knowledge-based Translation System (KbT System) as part of its technical support system.

 CNH needed fast and cost-effective translation of its web-enabled warehouse of expert technical knowledge (ASIST). Using SDL’s KbT System, over 2 million words have been translated into 5 languages. CNH has improved quality of service for its customers by providing an on line, free text search for concern symptoms to many of its technicians in their own language, with solutions delivered in the same language. Translation performance was over three times faster than human translation with translation costs substantially reduced.

“We developed ASIST to support technicians and dealers in trouble-shooting, repairing and maintaining our products,” said Bernard Melard, CNH Vice-President Strategic Marketing and Brand Governance. “Until we partnered with SDL on knowledge-based translation, the management, time and cost of translations was a significant issue within the process. Now we are able to communicate technical support content to our dealer community much more effectively and the feedback has been very positive.”
