SDL International, a leading provider of translation technologies and services for the global enterprise, has today announced the introduction of a fully scalable system for enterprise management of translation memories.

 Offering the choice of working seamlessly with proprietary, legacy data formats, such as SDLX, STAR and Trados, as well as the new, open XML market standards, such as TMX and XLIFF, "SDLX for UNIX" is intended to be part of the workflow of the truly global organization.

The 'client-server' system, running on the UNIX platform, is a scalable environment for the management of multilingual corporate content and supports traditional translation desktop packages such as SDLX.

The Translation Editor utilizes the familiar interface of SDL's 'SDLX', but the back-end engine harnesses the power of a UNIX server. The system is therefore completely scalable to organizations, allowing translators to continue to use the familiar SDLX desktop, but plug into a corporate UNIX powerhouse.
