World Society for the Protection of Animals Launches Website for Member Organizations

Extranet to offer multilingual support and advice to 1000 animal welfare charities

SDL Tridion™, leader in Web Content Management (WCM) and part of the SDL Group, leader in Global Information Management (GIM) solutions, today announces the launch of the World Society for the Protection of Animals™  (WSPA™) extranet (http://www.animalwelfareonline.org) for member organizations hosted on the SDL Tridion WCM platform.  The site will sit alongside ten of WSPA’s national sites that have already been successfully migrated to the system.

As the world’s largest alliance of animal welfare organizations, WSPA required a web presence which would offer a consistent message and style, in multiple languages. The extranet was needed to provide member organizations with a centralized library of resources, including photography, approved quotes, marketing collateral, how-to guides and advice on developing sustainability. Member societies will also be able to manage their profile and submit content to the site. This approach has allowed WSPA to refocus the national sites on fundraising and general information for the public.

“With the national sites, we were trying to reach too many audiences,” said Mike Walton, director of communications at WSPA International. “By creating this extranet, we are able to provide relevant information to each visitor, whether they are a member organization or supporter. We will also be able to track members through the site to monitor its effectiveness. In time, we will look to plug in social media applications to further build the community.”

WSPA designed the site to initially accommodate English, German, Swedish, Danish, Spanish, Dutch and Portuguese speaking visitors. SDL Tridion’s unique BluePrinting™ technology has allowed the design of the site to be templated, meaning local site managers only need concern themselves with uploading content.

Tim Norman, sales director of Northern Europe at SDL Tridion, commented, “Websites are the primary tool for information gathering and sharing. WSPA was facing the same challenges as many multinational organizations – delivering relevant content for a specific region in the correct language. By profiling its visitors and understanding their needs and expectations, we were able to help deliver a scalable platform which will accommodate a variety of visitors and promote the work of the WSPA into the future.”
