SDL, the leading provider of Global Information Management (GIM) solutions is pleased to announce the new release of the market-leading terminology management solution, SDL MultiTerm® Server 2009. The announcement coincides with the launch of the TM crowdsharing technology SDL TM Server™ 2009

Global businesses and translators face the challenge that increasing volumes of content are being created in different areas of the organization and must be localized for global markets. With a fragmented approach to creating global content, organizations are not protecting their brand by managing the key terms that represent their business. This affects not only their brand, but also has a substantial impact on the content creation and localization process.

SDL MultiTerm® Server 2009 is the latest release of the market-leading terminology management system. It is a centralized and scalable solution to store, manage and share terminology, both internally and externally. SDL MultiTerm Server 2009 helps organizations apply consistent terminology from source through to translation by providing access to everyone involved in creating content and terminology, such as engineers, marketing, translators and terminologists.

A recent survey highlighted the need for terminology management throughout the global content creation process, to ensure consistent and high-quality content and branding. 72% of business professionals believe inconsistent terminology has a negative impact on branding and 85% noticed inconsistent uses of terminology within different departments of the organization. By implementing SDL MultiTerm Server 2009, organizations can easily share terminology assets to eliminate these inconsistencies, improving branding and communication across the globe.

As long-term users of SDL MultiTerm Server and SDL MultiTerm Online, Siemens Building Technologies is positive about this new release. “At Siemens Building Technologies, our deployment of SDL MultiTerm ensures the consistent use of approved terminology, which promotes brand consistency across documentation and throughout the global regions in which we operate,” commented Eric Leake, Siemens Building Technologies. “We are excited about the release of SDL MultiTerm Server 2009 and the new features that will continue to enhance the ability for organizations to manage their global brand”

“With the growing global presence of organizations and the increasing number of customer touchpoints, the need for effective terminology and brand management is essential in communicating consistently with your customers and prospects,” added Sophie Hurst, Director of Product Marketing at SDL. “SDL MultiTerm Server 2009 provides organizations with the essential solution to eliminate inconsistencies in terminology and build brand value globally.”

Significant enhancements have been made in the SDL MultiTerm Server 2009 release, including:

  • It is now based on the revolutionary framework of SDL Common Enterprise Application Framework™ (SDL CEAF™), the platform architecture for managing language assets across the enterprise

  • Significant improvement to the SDL MultiTerm user management functions, enabling users to manage their terminology and translation memory assets by logging in only once

  • SDL MultiTerm Online, the online terminology portal, has also been given a brand new user interface in synchronization with SDL MultiTerm Desktop 2009 and SDL Trados® Studio 2009, delivering a unified user experience across SDL products

  • Improved termbase maintenance features, including the tracking of terminology searches and enhanced reporting functions
