SDL GIM Technology to Help with Linguistic Validation of Patient Documents

SDL, the leading provider of Global Information Management (GIM) solutions, today announced that the MAPI Research Institute has selected an SDL Global Information Management solution to optimize their complex linguistic validation processes while maintaining the highest levels of quality and consistency which have led to MAPI’s reputation as a market leader.

The MAPI Research Institute, part of the MAPI Group (www.groupemapi.com ), helps global pharmaceutical companies with linguistic validation of questionnaires and Patient Reported Outcomes  (PROs).  In any year, the MAPI Research Institute deals with hundreds of questionnaires in over 100 different languages. Through a rigorous methodology, unique processes and close cooperation with authors, linguistic validation of questionnaires guaranties that the translated versions are conceptually equivalent to the originals and culturally adapted to the target countries.

The GIM solution, which includes SDL Translation Management System™ and SDL MultiTerm®, will be used to optimize two major elements of MAPI’s linguistic validation activities:

  • Process automation to help maximise the reuse of existing translations while reducing process time and costs

  • Manage the ‘concept lists' to enhance the quality and consistency of translated terminology

“The MAPI Institute is renowned worldwide for the unrivalled quality of its service. Our goal is to accelerate and optimize our processes while maintaining the high level of quality that is MAPI’s trademark.” said Isabelle Mear, Managing Director of MAPI Institute. “With their extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry, SDL demonstrated a thorough understanding of our needs and objectives, and their product suite matches our requirements perfectly”

“SDL’s expertise in Global Information Management and its domain knowledge of the Life Sciences industry will enable us to efficiently implement the new GIM solution for the MAPI Research Institute” said Patrick Baudouin, Vice-President Life Sciences Solutions at SDL. “The breadth and depth of our solution will allow the MAPI Research Institute to respond much faster and more efficiently to their clients’ requests, while maintaining and/or increasing the high quality standards that have established MAPI’s reputation”
