SDL International, the world’s leading provider of translation services and technology solutions, announced today the immediate availability of SDLTermBase™ Online 2004, enabling organizations to add control and precision to multilingual communications more easily than ever before

SDLTermBase Online provides secure, web-based access to a centralized terminology repository (TermBase) so that organizations can easily capture, manage and maintain corporate terminology information. Poor terminology control confuses brand identity in marketing communications, causes misunderstanding in product communications and leads to dissatisfaction in service communications. When translated into multiple languages, the problems multiply.

With SDLTermBase Online 2004, it has never been easier to take control of corporate terminology and improve the clarity and understanding of multilingual communications. This new release provides:

  • Easy access for all users – The user portal is accessible from any web browser and is customizable by individual users to show only the desired information
  • Flexible configuration – Attributes can be renamed, new attributes defined, term relationships identified and company specific online help created
  • Advanced searching, sorting and filtering – All TermBase fields can be searched, terms can be sorted by language and field value, and filters can be applied so that only relevant information is displayed
  • Reduced total cost – Content creation and localization processes are streamlined, reducing inconsistencies, increasing translation productivity and improving quality
  • Scalable from desktop to enterprise - Easy integration with SDLX™ 2004 and with common terminology formats, and the option to deploy as an integrated component of SDLWorkFlow™ 2004 and the SDL Knowledge-based Translation System™

"SDLTermBase Online has helped us rapidly collaborate and share terminology with our customers, including a 'Top 2' automotive manufacturer located in Detroit, to further improve the quality service we provide," commented Carl Helbich, Manager - Business Development at AAA Language Services.

“SDLTermBase Online has already reduced inefficiencies in terminology management for many corporations across different industry sectors,” said Terry Lawlor, vice president worldwide marketing at SDL International. “With SDLTermBase Online 2004, we have made it even easier to gain control of terminology, improve the quality of communications whatever the language, reduce translation costs and speed up time to market.”
