(Maidenhead, England) --- Online TV News and Recruitment Network, Silicon.com has completed the purchase of a full licence for SDL's Multilingual Content Management system, SDLWorkFlow. Combined with SDL's extensive localisation services, SDLWorkFlow will provide a complete, global solution to help maintain Silicon.com's highly dynamic website in French and German.

"Silicon.com has a large number of breaking and top news stories that will need rapid translations. Through the use of the SDLWorkFlow system, SDL will be able to deliver very high quality translations within the extremely tight time limits demanded by the publishing industry," said SDL International CEO, Mark Lancaster.

"The systems provided by SDL will play a key role as we roll out Silicon.com across multiple European countries," said Rob Lewis, Chief Executive, Silicon.com. "Our local news operations in Paris and Munich will be producing large amounts of content which will need translating at lightning speed into various languages. SDL is a natural Partner for us. It offers both speed and quality of service that is required for what will be Europe's first pan-European broadband business news network."

SDL's total globalization solution will enable Silicon.com to provide news simultaneously in different languages, allowing them to gain significant market share and providing them with seamless localisation services and decreased administrative costs.

SDLWorkFlow functionality includes:

  • automatic detection of changes on the original site
  • alert system that notifies members of the localisation process, and provides information on status as the project progresses
  • use of "Translation Memory" software to prepare files automatically and ensure consistent re-use of previously translated content
  • The system thus enables the production and maintenance of complex, multilingual web sites, reducing the users' multilingual systems development and 'time-to-market'. It also therefore offers substantial savings in cost and time for e-business development.
