SDL, the leading provider of Global Information Management solutions, announced today the availability of an out-of-the-box integration between SDL Trisoft™ and Leximation™ DITA-FMx, the most popular DITA plugin to Adobe® FrameMaker®. The DITA-FMx plugin to Adobe FrameMaker has been widely adopted by technical writers in a variety of industries who wish to work in a familiar authoring environment while taking maximum advantage of the full range of DITA capabilities.

The adoption of structured content methodologies has been accelerating among technical writers and information developers in high-tech, software, consumer electronics and life sciences. Structured content is providing a foundation for enabling global companies to more easily share and reuse information, drive down the cost of content development and localization, create greater business agility and ultimately improve the customer experience.

By providing a bridge between SDL Trisoft and Leximation DITA-FMx, SDL gives information developers the ability to seamlessly use SDL’s advanced Component Content Management capabilities with Adobe FrameMaker, the most familiar technical authoring tool in the market.  While advanced authoring tools, like FrameMaker, give authors a powerful and familiar interface for writing structured content, they also need a way to manage the hundreds, thousands or millions of information components they develop in source and target languages. The new integration combines best-of-breed technologies for authoring and managing structured content.

“Adoption of structured authoring is accelerating in the technical writing community,” said Kevin Duffy, CEO of SDL’s Structured Content Technologies division. “We are pleased to offer technical authors a way to leverage SDL Trisoft with the leading DITA plugin for FrameMaker developed by Leximation.”

“SDL Trisoft is widely recognized as one of the leaders in Component Content Management,” said Scott Prentice, CEO of Leximation. “Many of our joint customers have been asking for this integration, which brings together the best of both worlds.”

SDL Trisoft is the leading Component Content Management system developed for DITA, the XML standard for technical writers. Thousands of products including consumer electronics, mobile phones, computers, automobiles, medical equipment, water filtration systems and enterprise software are released to the market with documentation that is produced from structured content, and stored, managed and life-cycled within SDL Trisoft.

The DITA-FMx plugin built by Leximation is in use by hundreds of writers who have moved to DITA using Adobe FrameMaker. Together SDL and Leximation share several major clients that want a joint solution.
