The “corks pop” for SDL Passolo

Celebrating ten years of leadership in the visual software localization market

SDL, the leading provider of Global Information Management (GIM) solutions, together with PASS Engineering are celebrating ten years of success for SDL Passolo ®, their award winning software localization tool. This occasion has given the management the opportunity to reflect on the journey so far, but also to promote new ideas and prepare for future opportunities.

Back in 1998, founders Florian Sachse and Achim Herrman developed PASSOLO as a software localization tool that could handle a large variety of different file formats. This became just one of the many reasons translators, small companies and large enterprises soon selected PASSOLO as their preferred software localization tool. Particularly regarding Microsoft .NET compatibility and WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation) support, PASSOLO set new standards for the industry. "We have always been dedicated to providing scalable software solutions for businesses, including visual software localization as well as integrated solutions with translation memory systems," says Florian Sachse, Managing Director of PASS Engineering. His personal vision has always been to provide customers with a single technology platform that can be used for the localization of all file formats, including documentation and Web content in addition to software.

Florian continues: "Joining forces with SDL in 2007 marks a significant new era in the company's history. Before this SDL Passolo had already built a strong reputation for itself, but with SDL – a $200m leader in Global Information Management with 50 offices and nearly 2,000 people worldwide – at its side, PASS Engineering can scale to meet the ever-changing challenges of the international market with greater certainty. We are convinced of the key role localization plays in the globalization process, because it extends the value proposition of a product and delivers a real competitive advantage. We recognized this connection early on and are working with SDL to effectively develop its market potential. There is no end in sight to our success story."

Various events and promotions are planned to celebrate 2008 as the Year of SDL Passolo. For more information on SDL Passolo visit http://www.sdl.com/passolo
