SDL International, the world’s leading provider of global information management (GIM) solutions, announced a strategic solution purchase by euroscript Group. As one of the world’s top ten language service providers (LSPs), euroscript will standardize on the SDL platform on a company-wide basis to solve key challenges in its growing business, and to deliver higher-quality, more responsive services.

euroscript is a leader among LSPs that deliver content through the globalization supply chain – a process that spans from authoring to content management to localization to publishing. Increasingly, LSPs are required not only to provide localization services, but to extend the value of global content to each phase of the chain. To address this challenge, LSPs are turning to GIM solutions, which streamline and integrate the globalization supply chain, and help LSPs shorten time to market for their customers and improve the quality of LSP services.

An example of the strategic services that euroscript provides is a project for the European Union (EU), a large euroscript customer. The EU called for euroscript to work in more than twenty languages, and manage thousands of small globalization projects, which represented a major increase in project volume. euroscript also delivers projects in the private sector, where they provide domain expertise across diverse vertical sectors that include automotive, material processing, and medical technology. Adding complexity to these requirements, euroscript needed to coordinate and manage work from nine different locations, including offices in Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland, and Eastern Europe, supporting over 300 translators and project managers.

To provide state-of-the-art GIM, euroscript chose SDL’s industry-standard GIM platform, which includes SDL TRADOS Translation Memory Server and SDL MultiTerm Term Server. On top of this platform, euroscript and SDL developed a complete system for insource/outsource project management, which scales to support thousands of globalization projects simultaneously, while minimizing IT support. This solution will be seamlessly connected with EMC-Documentum’s enterprise content management system through SDL’s pre-integrated, out-of-the box application that leverages existing Documentum systems and workflows.

“SDL’s technology frees us to focus on our core business – delivering the highest-value language services for key industry specialities,” said Mark Evenepoel, euroscript’s Managing Director. “With SDL we can optimize the entire content globalization process, reducing inconsistencies and redundancies. SDL also helps us better manage our worldwide network of service providers.”

Going forward, euroscript and SDL will collaborate to provide GIM solutions, as explained by Jochen Hummel, General Manager for SDL EMEA: “SDL and euroscript share the same vision about global information management. Rather than just outsourcing global content production and reducing costs, enterprises that use SDL technology and euroscript consulting and services will benefit from decreased time to market and improved quality of global content. Working together, SDL and euroscript can meet and exceed our clients’ needs for rapid deployment of GIM solutions.”
