CNH concludes major globalization solutions agreement with SDL International

CNH will install SDLWorkFlow and SDL will deliver the translation services to support the CNH After Sales support tool, ‘ASIST’

mercredi 9 juillet 2003

SDL plc ("SDL"), the world’s leading provider of multilingual solutions offering scalable translation technology and services, has announced the completion of a substantial new software and services contract with CNH. This comprises SDLWorkFlow and SDL’s translation memory and machine translation systems as well as the translation of some tens of millions of words.

CNH is the largest manufacturer of agricultural tractors and combine harvesters in the world and the third largest producer of construction equipment. It also has one of the industry's largest equipment finance operations. CNH will extend its lead in support services by deploying SDL’s WorkFlow technology and translation services in support of its technical information and support system, ASIST.

ASIST is a 24 / 7, web-enabled warehouse of expert technical knowledge. Winner of the CNH Chairman’s Award in 2002, ASIST helps dealers and service technicians to trouble-shoot, repair and maintain CNH products. This system encompasses the company’s Technical Information Database, Knowledge Management Database and Contact Management System, with availability throughout CNH's 24 country operations and its network of 12,400 dealers and distributors in over 160 countries.

SDL’s translation services and technologies will be used to globally enable ASIST. The SDLWorkFlow installation encompasses a full Knowledge Based Translation System, incorporating Translation Memory and Terminology Management as well as Real-time Translation capabilities. The flexibility, scalability and ease of use of the system will enable CNH to manage their complex translation tasks in an efficient and cost effective manner while maintaining the high translation quality and meeting demanding turnaround times. Translation Memories and Dictionaries will be automatically sequenced for maximum re-use of information on CNH’s diverse product range – a feature unique to SDLWorkFlow.

Joe Pstrak, CNH Director of Dealer e-Business Services said: “CNH has elected to solve the ASIST translation challenge by employing SDL’s integration of real-time translation, translation memory and workflow technologies with their translation services. Our technical information is a valuable resource and, because of SDL’s translation solution, ASIST will enable CNH to provide the dealer network with technical information in multiple languages on a real-time basis with a view to increasing the productivity of dealer technicians and ultimately leading to increased customer satisfaction.”

Keith Mills, SDL’s CTO, commented, “This agreement shows that solutions for the global management of translation have come of age. Central to the solution for CNH is SDLWorkFlow which controls the delivery, retrieval and collection of multilingual content within their overall translation process. Within the SDLWorkFlow environment, content authors, reviewers and translators can utilise powerful technologies such as translation memory, terminology management and real-time translation. Depending on the project requirements, these technologies can be employed either singly or in combination, either online or on the desktop.”
