Multilingual Desktop Management, the newly formed division of SDL International that delivers globalization productivity solutions for corporations and localization service providers, announced today it has begun shipping its new SDLX Translation Suite v4.

Over recent years, translators, agencies and corporations alike have struggled with the growing complexities of employing Translation Memory ('TM') to speed up their translation process. Some have avoided some TM systems because of the enormous complexity they bring to the translation process.

Based on a brand-new release - SDLX Translation Suite - SDL has tackled this complexity head on with new product functionality and support services to provide a complete solution to the translation process. SDL now not only offers the most advanced software facilities, delivered via the easiest-to-learn user interface in the market, but also the relevant human expertise within the process.

"We virtually guarantee the success of our customers using our products in their projects," according to Brian Briggs, VP Desktop Products at SDL International. "For the single cost of purchasing our product, our customers now receive live QuickStart™ training to get started, live phone support via our new Platinum Club Support program, and off-hours support through our new 24/7 Online Knowledgebase and Customer Support Center. All of this is backed up by one of the top players in the localization industry known for its quality and timely delivery."

Paulo Camarga, Operations Manager at the Brazilian Localization Company in Sao Paolo commented- "We rate SDLX Translation Suite today as the industry standard product for professional high quality translation services. The user-friendly interface of SDLX gives us an additional increase in productivity because all the translation functions are readily available, significantly reducing the training time and learning curve."

New features for this new release include, expanded Uniscribe™ language support, enhanced translation memory performance, enhanced XML, Quark and Excel filters, new drag-and-drop support for analyzing and pre-translating project files, and a new terminology management wizard. Larger installations will also appreciate the ability to have multiple translators share translation memories over a Local Area Network when using the Professional edition with the largest organizations hosting their databases on Oracle or SQL Server.

SDLX is also available in a high-end version, Elite Edition. With this version, translation agencies and corporate localization departments can easily centralize the translation memory solution and provide freelance translators with a free, downloadable edit module, SDLX Lite. Freelancers can use SDLX Lite at no cost regardless of the translation memory tool they already use; SDLX is standards-based, supporting Translation Memory eXchange (TMX) and OpenTag.
