As a result of continued investment and progress in Research & Development, SDL plc ("SDL International" or "the Company"), one of the UK's leading software and internet companies, has been able to bring forward the full production release of "SDLWebFlow" to Wednesday 26th January 2000.

SDL International will be demonstrating SDLWebFlow at the Multilingual Content Management Conference it is hosting at the Ritz Hotel in London on 14th February 2000.

SDLWebFlow is designed to allow clients to keep their multilingual web sites synchronized with the content of the host language web site.

The key stages in the SDLWebFlow process are:

  • automatic detection of changes on the original site
  • alert system which notifies members of the localization process, and provides Status information as the project progresses
  • use of "Translation Memory" software to prepare files automatically and ensure consistent re-use of previously translated content

This produces the following benefits for SDLWebFlow users:

  • enables the production and maintenance of complex, multilingual web sites
  • reduces their systems development 'time-to-market'
  • substantial savings of cost and time

The Company expects shortly to complete several significant contracts relating to SDLWebFlow and globalization services.

Commenting on the early full production release of SDLWebFlow, Mark Lancaster, Chairman and Chief Executive of SDL International, said:

"As companies launch more products across foreign markets simultaneously, international web sites are expanding and multilingual support becomes a strong differentiator for them. SDLWebFlow meets the needs for an automated solution, supported by professional management to handle the 'localization' issues involved. SDL International intends to meet the needs of its clients, in all the world's languages, and across all forms of electronic communication."
