SDL confirms Global Information Management on the Rise

SDL Technology business units over-perform, independent research study shows GIM has significant positive effect on global market share

Both Enterprise Products and SDL Trados® Technology business units of SDL reported significant growth for the year ending 31st December 2007, strengthened by quicker than expected adoption of SDL’s Global Information Management (GIM) solutions. This comes at a time when Forrester Research has released the findings of a study into the total economic impact and positive Return on Investment that corporations can realize by deploying GIM (more details of the independent research can be found at www.sdl.com/tei).

SDL Enterprise Products, the leading provider of Global Information Management (GIM) solutions, has seen new name license sales increase by 70 per cent in 2007.

SDL Trados Technologies, a business unit of SDL that focuses on productivity software for the translation supply chain, has posted a double digit revenue increase and 26 per cent in new license growth.

Global companies deploying Enterprise GIM solutions now include Alcatel-Lucent, Charles Schwab, Citrix, Corel, Fujitsu Siemens, Palm, Varian Medical, and VMware. The number of existing companies extending their deployments has also increased, with significant growth within organisations including Intel, Dell and GlaxoSmithKline.

SDL Trados Technologies announced major new wins at blue chip companies including Ernst & Young, Drager Medical and FIFA. Product license revenue and units posted a solid performance, with a 98 per cent increase in server / Software as a Service (SaaS) adoption. Sales of server licenses and SaaS were bolstered by increased interest in SDL Trados Synergy™ and SDL MultiTerm® Online licenses. New desktop license sales were driven by growth in the emerging markets, primarily in China, India and South America.

Both business units attribute their growth to organizations’ need to support the increasing volumes of frequently changing information that needs to be delivered in multiple languages to support world markets. These companies are looking to SDL to help them unify processes across the extended translation supply chain to reduce the time and effort to deliver this information to their global customers.

Support and maintenance revenues grew by 88 per cent, fuelled by customer satisfaction and the continued success of the SDL Trados Certification programme, with endorsement from the UN, Microsoft and Siemens, SDL has seen a 260% year on year increase in adoption with over 6,500 users taking part in the certification program in 2007. The programme is now seen by global companies as the standard in quality and consistency in the use of translation technology.
