SDL International, a leader in the emerging market for global information management (GIM) solutions, today announced the launch of SDL Synergy, a translation management system for workgroups, to improve the efficiency and productivity of translators and project managers working together.

After talking to our desktop customers and to leading experts in the industry, SDL identified a real need for a translation solution that would enable LSP and small corporate project managers and translators to work together more efficiently in the translation ecosystem.  SDL Synergy is based around three core benefits: online centralization of translation memory, automation of highly repetitive tasks and real-time tracking of projects.  Importantly, the solution needed to be scalable, easy to implement and easy to maintain without being prohibitively expensive for language service providers (LSPs) and corporate language departments.

SDL Synergy sits between the desktop and more sophisticated translation management systems such as SDL TeamWorks and SDL Translation Management System. It has been designed specifically for LSPs and small corporate language departments who do not have extensive technical resources. SDL Synergy provides a practical solution to the everyday problems of translation management experienced by translation teams.

“We now have the ability to share our TMs via the web across our entire organization,” explained Peter Argondizzo, Operations Manager, Argo Translation, Inc. “Giving our Project Managers and contractors real-time, 24/7 access to our TMs is a huge advantage. We can now split large projects with the confidence that our linguists will be consistent with other team members work as well as legacy translation in our TMs.”

“CyraCom began using the new SDL Synergy platform to enhance our service quality,” said Michael Greenbaum, CEO of CyraCom,  the leading provider of health care language services in the United States.  “The new product allows us to extend our internal translation memories to remote translators faster using web services.  Synergy provides the new features and required flexibility to meet our clients' needs while streamlining the product deployment.”

“SDL continues to focus on providing technology solutions that address customer needs through continued technology innovation,” explained Keith Laska, Vice President, SDL Desktop Technology. “SDL Synergy allows customers to take advantage of centralized online TM technology that enables the translation ecosystem – project managers, translators and reviewers – to become more connected. When this is combined with sophisticated project management capabilities, such as task automation and project tracking, our customers have a translation solution that is out-of-the-box, easy to manage and highly affordable.”
