SDL International, the world’s leading provider of translation services and technology solutions, announced today the immediate availability of SDLWorkFlow 2004, with new performance, scalability and usability enhancements that reinforce its position as the most advanced translation management system on the market today.

SDLWorkFlow removes the complexities in translation projects. Its centralized asset management, tightly integrated technologies and sophisticated process management have helped customers, such as Canon, CNH, Dell, Morgan Stanley, PeopleSoft, Plantronics and William Hill, drive out cost and complexity, improve quality and consistency, and achieve a rapid return on investment.

With SDLWorkFlow 2004, major new enhancements have been added:

  • Centralized asset management: Integration of SDLTermBase Online to give web-based editing and review linked directly to centralized terminology and translation memory. This gives greater flexibility, reduces software licensing costs and guarantees the consistency and quality of translations.
  • Dynamic resource allocation: On-the-fly reallocation of tasks to different resources at any stage in the workflow and the ability to reassign tasks in batches to different stages in the workflow, giving greater freedom to adapt to changing business needs.
  • Performance and scalability: Multi-threaded and distributed processing in the analysis and management of multilingual content, improving performance and reducing time to market.
  • Usability: Web user interface changes for usability and performance, plus the introduction of SDLWorkFlow Courier, a portal for simplified access to the system.
  • Reporting: New translation metrics reporting with support for export to data analysis software.

SDLWorkFlow 2004 is built on the open standards XML and TMX* to enable it to integrate easily with existing systems and ensure that knowledge built up in the translation process is not locked away in proprietary formats.

“SDLWorkFlow already manages millions of words every week through traditional and knowledge-based translation processes,” said Terry Lawlor, VP Marketing at SDL International. “With SDLWorkFlow 2004, we are responding to the needs of our global customers and continuing to raise the bar for translation productivity.”
