Candidates must hold an MA/MSc or equivalent in translation studies and must demonstrate exceptional translation quality and methodology.
As this is an entry level position, the initial period of employment will be for six months but with the offer of a permanent role at the end of that period for candidates who perform well.
This is an excellent opportunity for those serious about pursuing a career in translation as you will be exposed to a variety of subject matter to include technical, financial, marketing and legal, amongst others. Duties will involve translation, review, editing, conversion from US to UK English, linguistic advising and testing. You will receive full support from our team of experienced in-house translators and extensive training in CAT tools. Moreover, the role will be an opportunity to develop commercial awareness and for candidates to gain hands-on experience working on some of SDL’s key accounts.
The successful candidates will be native English speakers, will hold a degree in modern languages, specifically German, and an MA in translation studies. Preference will be given to candidates who, in addition to German, can also offer a second source language. Dedication, flexibility and motivation are essential as is an understanding of IT with good MS Office skills, the ability to work under pressure and a keen eye for detail.
