SDL International is the world's leading provider of global information management solutions. We are now looking for a German into English translator to join our in-house localization team in Sheffield (UK) on a permanent basis. Candidates must have proven experience in a commercial translation environment.



Within SDL's team of experienced translators, the new team member will focus on translation and review of a variety of material to include technical, mechanical engineering, hardware, software, automotive, agricultural machinery and marketing texts. In addition to translation and review, you will also be responsible for terminology management, quality assurance, account management and resourcing work.

  • With English as your mother tongue, you must hold a degree in German and preferably an MA/MSc. in translation studies — any other source languages will be considered a plus.
  • Your translation experience must be in a comparable commercial environment requiring use of CAT tools.
  • You must demonstrate exceptionally strong translation skills and excellent attention to detail in your English target texts.
  • Familiarity with the management of linguistic aspects of the localization process is preferred.
  • An understanding of IT with good MS Office skills and a good typing speed is essential.
  • The candidate should be a strong team player, have good organizational and time management skills, a flexible and proactive approach to tackling tasks and must demonstrate the ability to work under pressure.
  • Experience with Translation Memory tools would be an advantage but full training will be provided.
