SDL, the leading provider of Global Information Management (GIM) solutions is pleased to announce that LG CNS has selected SDL Translation Management System™ (SDL TMS™) to improve the quality and consistency of translated marketing and product collateral. It will also increase the efficiency of the processes used by LG Electronics operating units to deliver multilingual material to their global markets.

LG CNS, a subsidiary of the LG Corp., provides organizations such as governments, global enterprises and public domains, as well as LG Corp. operating units, with  information technology services including consulting, system and network integration and  business process and information technology outsourcing. As a result of the improvements in translation quality and the translation process through the relationship between LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company and SDL’s Korean office in Seoul, LG CNS identified clear potential to improve the processes for managing multilingual content across all LG Electronics operating units. This offers the opportunity for significant cost efficiencies, improved content reuse, better adherence to brand consistency and far quicker time-to-market for product documentation and web content.

SDL TMS will be used to manage the complex processes involved in localizing customer-facing content. LG CNS will operate a self-sufficient Center of Excellence, adding value to the processes for global content creation within LG Electronics operating units and providing a “hub” service to connect content authors, originators, translators and reviewers within the localization supply chain. Translation throughput will be increased and time-to-market reduced by eliminating unnecessary steps and automating manual processes, leveraging both the capability of SDL Translation Management System and the skilled resources of the SDL Services worldwide translation network.

“SDL TMS will allow us to optimize and automate processes for the creation of content for LG’s global customers. Managing translation cost and increasing reuse and consistency will help LG Electronics operating units to provide excellent customer experience in all their markets,” said Lee Jaesung, Vice President of LG CNS.

“We are delighted that LG CNS has selected SDL TMS as a key element in the project to improve the multilingual content processes of LG Electronics operating units,” said Clive Thomas, Vice-President of Enterprise Technologies at SDL. “SDL TMS will enable LG CNS to maximize the reuse of existing translations so that content consistency is enhanced, translation costs are lowered and time-to-market is accelerated.”

About LG CNS

LG CNS is the professional IT solution provider. LG CNS (which stands for ‘Consulting and Solutions’) as of 2009 has 7,000 employees at its headquarters, 7 overseas subsidiary companies and 4 subsidiary companies around the world to help clients with IT challenges; we provide comprehensive solutions from consulting to system deployment and operation.

LG CNS started off as STM in 1987. LG CNS originally existed as a joint venture between LG Group in Korea and EDS in the U.S. The company was renamed 'LG-EDS System' according to the Corporate Identity (CI) integration work of LG Group in 1995. LG Group then acquired a 50% share of EDS in 2001 and renamed the firm 'LG CNS', remains the official company name today.

At LG CNS, we have accelerated global marketing efforts in step with excellent partnerships with our global customers by establishing overseas subsidiaries since 2000. This has been visualized into fruition, especially into the public sector in Asia, as evidenced by our successful completion of e-government and public transit card systems. We are now revamping offerings for global manufacturing and service industries. Our display systems, applying LED (light-emitting diodes), are gaining ground not only in Asia but also in the Middle East, America, Europe, Africa and Oceania.
