DITA Training in an SDL Trisoft Environment

Course Outline:

This first event in the series of training provides a brief overview of the SDL Trisoft system, and focused DITA training for the implementation team.
• Basic DITA concepts and authoring
• Training and practice using the XMetaL authoring tool on your documents
• Help client choose a document or small document set for the quick start

Goals:

Provide foundational knowledge of the DITA standard and provide guidance on consideration points for your DITA implementation.

Objectives:

Session 1: Organizing and generating deliverables with DITA maps
Session 2: Controlling links and metadata in maps
Session 3: Creating well-formed DITA topics
Session 4: Creating topics and specifying metadata
Session 5: Reusing content
Session 6: Creating your deliverables

Once that foundational knowledge is set, the training continues to discuss and perform examples of typical SDL Trisoft daily activities for authors, information architects and project managers. This session is delivered as demonstration and lecture. In addition, labs and examples will be provided. Interactive discussion will be encouraged.
