Changes in how users consume information have driven growing intolerance for generic product documentation. When provided with monolithic, printed manuals and static documents users will often ignore documentation or turn to informal and unregulated channels for information. Ultimately, this contributes to poor customer experiences with products and rising customer support costs. Despite these losses, many organizations struggle to adapt their publishing strategies to meet changing user needs and remain within tight operational constraints.
Through direct survey research involving 131 organizations the Aberdeen Group has identified how Best-in-Class organizations achieve significant competitive advantages by successfully responding to user needs without sacrificing operational performance.
