YHA Wins ‘Best Use Of Technology’ Award

10 May 2007

YHA’s Web site won the ‘Best Use of Technology’ Award at this year’s Tridion World event in Noordwijk.

The new Web site has helped the budget accommodation provider increase bookings and revenue by 50% in just 4 months – already beating its 3 year target.

Reading Room was chosen in 2006 to revitalize YHA’s online strategy and change negative perceptions of booking affordable accommodation online and drive a greater market share of online customers.

Harnessing the Tridion Content Management System, the Web site has more than 200 managers of content signed up from remote hostels, providing up to date information.  This has resulted in advanced booking revenue to increase by 8% and visitors by 25,000 to over 412,000 in just 4 months.

YHA fully embraces the spectrum of Tridion technology which includes Content Manager, Content Manager Explorer, dynamic linking, Content Broker, Outbound Email, and Blueprinting.  The solution has turned content into value.

Margaret Manning, CEO Reading Room: “This is absolutely fantastic news and we are delighted for YHA.  Our aim is to use technology as an enabling layer that achieves business goals.  Tridion met the very specific communication demands of YHA and gave further opportunity to acquire and retain customers by offering a best-in-class service”

Duncan Simpson, Head of Communications YHA: "We are thrilled with the site! Reading Room and Tridion has delivered it to a really tight schedule which will truly help us to speak in new ways about the great locations and great accommodation YHA uniquely offers to all but particularly to young people”
