WSPA to Relaunch International Web Presence

01 May 2007

WSPA (World Society for Protection of Animals) uses Tridion to overhaul its International Web presence to increase donations and support for animal welfare causes.

WSPA (World Society for Protection of Animals) is to overhaul its International Web presence to provide better communication and content for site visitors with the aim of increasing donations and support for animal welfare causes.

WSPA, a charity that promotes animal welfare in regions of the world with few or no measures to protect animals, will work with Tridion, a Web Content Management company, to consolidate its 20 existing sites onto a single platform.  The new site will help increase the flow and efficiency of information available to Web site visitors whilst still being available in 20 languages.

“The need for brand consistency and co-ordinated and quick Web site updates means the need to manage sites using one platform has become essential,” says Mike Walton, Head of Digital, WSPA International.  “However, it is also vital that we retain the ability to localize content to ensure it is relevant for our Web site visitors and donors who come from all over the world.  Tridion’s software means we can address both our global and local requirements with ease.”

The new Web site will also help to support the WSPA’s forthcoming rebranding plans through the ability to replicate branding consistently throughout thousands of Web pages, making management of the Web site far easier for employees.

“Tridion’s software enables the devolution of Web editing to non-technical employees, meaning that marketing staff with local knowledge can take charge of creating content relevant to local audiences without having to worry about keeping content fully accessible and consistent,” says Terry Hall, Director of Sales UK & Ireland, Tridion.

The Web site currently receives around 100,000 unique users per month and WSPA are hoping that the new site will help increase the number of visitors to the site, which in turn will encourage donor loyalty and increased support.  The first phase of the new Web site is planned for launch in September 2007 when the UK site will be completed.

About WSPA

For 25 years, WSPA has aimed to promote the concept of animal welfare in regions of the world where there are few, if any, measures to protect animals.

Our rescue teams provide direct help to animals that have been abandoned, neglected or caught up in natural or man-made disasters all over the globe.

Politically, we have campaigned to convince governments and key decision makers to change practices and introduce new laws to protect or improve the welfare of animals.

WSPA is proud to be part of a growing network with over 700 member organizations in more than 145 countries; this means that WSPA can bring together animal welfarists throughout the world to challenge global issues.
