Tridion and Amaze to implement the new www.london.gov.uk

Amaze, a Web technology solutions company, and Tridion, a Web Content Management company, have been selected as partners by the Greater London Authority (GLA) to deliver a new Web site for London.

Amaze, who won the tender following a six-way competitive pitch, will standardize all existing GLA managed London-related sites onto www.london.gov.uk, to give residents and visitors access to a range of interactive services containing information on facilities, travel information and services available in and around the capital.

By revamping the www.london.gov.uk Web site and developing an intranet for the London Development Agency, Amaze will help the GLA’s commitment to encourage greater integration between the GLA Group.  It will also provide an opportunity for other local government bodies and councils to share in resources to provide better access to information and services, making London an easier and more enjoyable place to live, work and visit.

"This is an important step towards consolidating a vast range of information and services that are provided on the Internet." commented David Munn, Head of Technology Group (GLA). "This is the beginning of the process, but we have a real opportunity to develop the london.gov.uk Web site to deliver a one-stop-shop for all Londoners and visitors."

The new LDA intranet will enable users to set-up and manage a view that meets their needs, with access to an employee directory, bulletin boards detailing upcoming events and all relevant internal documents.

The intranet and Web site will be based on Tridion’s content management system (CMS), which will provide GLA with a common platform on which the Web site can be established and maintained.

"Tridion’s software will enable a harmonious partnership between the two different technology standards currently used by the GLA and the London Development Agency," says Terry Hall, Sales Director UK & Ireland, Tridion. "With the technical complexities completely removed for the end user, teams needing to publish content on the Web site will be able to do so with ease, and as a result, will be able to deliver a superb level of information to Web site visitors."

The CMS system will initially be used by the GLA and LDA but will be available to the other members of the GLA Group including Transport for London and MPA, who can use the system to run any internet related service.  London’s 33 local authorities will also be able to procure the system, which they can have access to for a reduced rate due to a framework agreement that has been negotiated.

"The new online solution will enable any London government body to share quickly and easily any sort of information with the public via the london.gov.uk website," explained Stuart Melhuish, CEO, Amaze.

"By joining forces technologically the GLA can provide a better and more interactive service to all visitors and tourists in the London area."
