SDL Tridion Cloud Readiness

Just being in the cloud for its own sake will be successful by chance only: how the cloud really matters to you requires a good deal of understanding. And that costs time. So here a brief overview of what you might want to do.

The big cloud-gain is in flexibility. Unlike traditional hosting providers or internal IT departments, cloud vendors such as Amazon charge for capacity in units, much like electricity. The more you use, the more you pay. On one hand, this means that cloud charges are overall more expensive – but on the other hand, you only pay for what you actually need. With traditional hosting, your capacity is fixed and cannot be easily expanded - as such you are unable to meet demand if demand exceeds your capacity projections. In the cloud you can easily expand your capacity to meet the demand of your digital initiatives, projected or not.
