SDL Knowledge-based Translation System

High-quality automated translation for the world's leading brands

SDL Knowledge-based Translation System™ (SDL KbTS™) provides high-quality translations, accelerated time-to-market and reduced total cost for the world's leading brands. The power of the solution lies in the combination of sophisticated machine translation technology with other translation automation technologies and human linguistic skills.

A breakthrough in machine translation quality

A major advance from traditional translation memory-based processes, SDL Knowledge-based Translation System™ (SDL KbTS™) delivers a breakthrough in translation quality and throughput and significantly reduces the total cost of translation - up to 50% faster whilst saving up to 40% on traditional translation services.

With organizations facing the increasing pressures of high volumes of content, needing to be turned around rapidly and at lower cost, some organizations are today considering machine translation. Machine translation alone can provide a certain level of support to customers, but for companies wishing to maintain high quality content, whilst delivering it faster and at less cost, SDL Knowledge-based Translation System is the solution.

Features

SDL Knowledge-based Translation represents a breakthrough in the translation process itself. Terminology extraction, including key phrases, is automated through SDL PhraseFinder. The translated terms and phrases are used by SDL Enterprise Translation Server, which draws on this terminology knowledge base to enhance the quality of the automated translations.

SDL Translation Management System manages the entire SDL Knowledge-based Translation System process, first matching source texts against translation memory, and then using SDL Enterprise Translation Server to automate the remaining translation. Post-editing and quality review is all that is required to complete the translation.

Translated text is saved in the master Translation Memory and the master dictionary is also updated with any new terms and phrases, enhancing the knowledge base for future translations to reduce the amount of post-editing required.

SDL KbTS is built to use open standards such as TMX and XML, ensuring your investment in software, services and translation assets is fully protected.
