SDL Global Authoring Management System is the entire solution, including the server, client plug-in license and style, linguistic and grammar rules. SDL AuthorAssistant is the client license that plugs into Microsoft® Word, Adobe® FrameMaker, JustSystems® XMetaL, PTC Arbortext® Editor

Can SDL Global Authoring Management System help to improve the quality of machine translation output?

Yes, this is one of the original intentions of the technology when it was first developed. The linguistic rules in the technology are based on the intelligence from SDL's the machine translation engine. It can help machine translation in a number of way including improving the grammar and punctuation, inconsistencies, readability, general style and linguistic structure of source content.

What do the reporting features offer to customers?

The reporting functionality allows you to check documents for all errors and issues relating to your style and linguistic rules and your terminology and translation memory settings.The report also calculates a quality rating for the document. You can compare a document or documents ‘before’ and ‘after’ being checked. Comparison reports show the quality, cost of translation and word count of both documents or sets of documents. Which translation memory and terminology formats does SDL Global Authoring Management System support?

SDL Global Authoring Management System 2010 supports translation memories from SDL Trados Studio 2009 and 2007, SDL TM Server 2009 and 2007, SDL TeamWorks 2008, SDLX, SDL Translation Management System 2007 and SDL WorldServer. It supports termbases from SDL MultiTerm 2009 and SDL WorldServer.

How does SDL Global Authoring Management System work for writers that are using DITA?

It integrates with the leading DITA authoring tools – JustSystems XMetaL and PTC Arbortext Editor, as well as Adobe FrameMaker so anyone writing in DITA can use the technology to check their DITA topics for quality and consistency. The new Multiple Document Processing technology also allows users to check all the topics in a DITA map rather than having to open each one and check it.

Can a large group of users share the same centrally stored content?

Yes, sharing of translation memories, termbases and linguistic and style information is supported centrally. A central server, with access rights and centrally manageable profiles is a key feature of SDL Global Authoring Management System.
