AVisionaries and leaders in drug manufacturing are shifting gear in re-evaluating current IT initiatives concerning the multilingual aspects of their product labeling strategy roadmap. As XML becomes the dominant technology for drug submissions, a number of initiatives have been proposed to support the transition. This SDL White Paper looks into how the multilingual dimension of product information management can be severely underestimated by the emerging initiatives. It outlines recommendations for implementing a Global Information Management (GIM) platform: beginning with global XML. This is the vision to store information in an XML language–and then replicate it in multiple languages across multiple channels of communication.
