Gallup Hurdles Language Barrier with SDL

Research and consulting to be localized into over 40 languages

Maidenhead , United Kingdom
11 January 2005

SDL International, the world's leading provider of translation services and technology solutions, announced today that The Gallup Organization has selected SDL to localize its market research and management consulting content into over 40 languages.

With thousands of surveys and reports published each year through offices in 20 countries worldwide, Gallup recognized the value of SDL's investment in global infrastructure and technology to optimize localization processes. SDL has more offices in more countries than any other localization service provider.

SDL will deliver linguistic, cultural and technology leadership for the management and deployment of Gallup's global content. The centralized business relationship with a single point of contact is complemented by direct contact at the local level with SDL's in-house translation resources. SDL will provide desktop publishing and software engineering consulting for localized content and will also provide audio translation and recording for Gallup's telephone-based market research work.

"SDL is working with us in a global partnership that will streamline communications, reduce costs and ensure process consistency throughout our worldwide organization," said Amy Svoboda, Localization Manager at The Gallup Organization. "With SDL's combination of market-leading technologies and global services infrastructure we will achieve shorter time-to-market, increased translation re-use and greater consistency in our multilingual communications."

"Our continuing investment in technology and worldwide infrastructure enables us to better serve the business needs of global organizations such as Gallup," commented Cristina Lancaster, Chief Operations Officer at SDL International. "Project management and translation costs will be reduced, with quality and consistency improved. This is another resounding endorsement for our strategy from a major international player."
