Leading Localization vendor expands business in Central and East European languages

SDL plc ("SDL"), the world’s leading provider of multilingual solutions offering scalable translation technology and services, has announced its acquisition of the Lomac organization – one of the leading providers of translation and localization services to the Central and East European (CEE) market.

With the recent accession of a further 10 countries to European Union membership within Central and Eastern Europe, the demand for localization of content and digital assets into these markets will expand dramatically. Lomac, with more than 100 staff, operates in six countries within the region, providing translation and electronic publishing of technical documentation, software and web-content to leading blue-chip clients such as Bentley, Oracle and HP.

The investment will further enhance SDL’s local language office infrastructure within the CEE region and increase the company’s capacity to support a larger proportion of this market. Mark Lancaster, SDL’s CEO, commented, “The addition of Lomac fills another geographic niche and will add scale to SDL’s presence in this rapidly growing market. Lomac has a strong reputation and an excellent client list.”

Lancaster continued, “SDL is proud of its record of delivering high quality service solutions, which have been sustained by our ability to add infrastructure and control quality through dedicated resources. We believe that these twin factors are crucial to a credible localization or translation proposal.”

Lomac’s CEO, Marek Piorkowski confirmed, “We are extremely pleased to be able to join the SDL group. The company has the reputation of being the best-quality service provider in the industry and one of the only companies to offer scaleable products that integrate these services with translation technology, providing real solutions. We will be working to add to that reputation.”
