05 December 2001

SDL International, the leading provider of Multilingual Content Management products and Globalization solutions, today announced a strategic partnership with Gauss Interprise AG, a leading provider of unified Content Management Solutions for the extended enterprise. The pan-European agreement includes tight integration of SDL's WebFlow solution with Gauss' open standards-based content management solution, VIP ContentManager (Versatile Internet Platform).

VIP ContentManager enables businesses to optimize company-wide business processes, which is key in harnessing the web to drive business. SDLWebFlow extends the VIP Content Management Solution with corresponding capabilities for the management of multilingual content. The key benefit to customers combining the two solutions will be the ability to manage the operation of websites in almost any international language, quickly and efficiently.

"The joint solution with SDL enables our international operating VIP customers to make their enterprise-wide workflows more efficient. The automation of tasks vastly reduces the turnaround time for translation. The benefit of implementing VIP and SDLWebFlow is that companies are able to manage complex international business content at low cost and slight effort", commented Olaf Siemens, CTO and COO of Gauss Interprise AG.

"Today, global organizations require a solution that not only manages their website content but also the various language versions," said Mark Lancaster, CEO of SDL International. "The integration of SDLWebFlow and our real-time translation technology and services will provide Gauss customers with a world class solution."

VIP ContentManager is a key component of Gauss' industry-leading Versatile Internet Platform (VIP) infrastructure for enterprise-class content management. VIP ContentManager provides quick and easy content creation, collaboration and control through the complete content lifecycle without the need for complex authoring tools.

SDLWebFlow is designed to allow clients to keep their multilingual websites synchronized with the content of the host language website. The solution detects changes on the original site and implements a web-based workflow to enable rapid and cost-effective updates. Translation Memory software within SDLWebFlow is used to prepare files automatically, maximizing previous translation investment and ensuring consistency. SDLWebFlow works with any language that is supported by the user's web browser, including Asian and bi-directional languages.
