Leading globalization firm, SDL International, is pleased to announce the appointment of Xiuming Huang as General Manager for the new office in Beijing, China. SDL China will be a full-service Chinese localization shop, offering translation, desktop publishing, engineering and project management services.

SDL President and CEO Mark Lancaster commented "This is an ideal time to expand our presence. The Chinese office will allow us to better support clients who are expanding into the Asian market. And we are pleased to have Xiuming Huang, an expert in the localization field, helping us with our expansion."

Xiuming Huang, new SDL China General Manager, joins SDL after being General Manager with a leading localization competitor. "I'm impressed by SDL's growth, which reflects the energetic and effective administration," Huang said. "I'm also impressed by SDL's emphasis on technology, represented by SDLX [SDL's translation memory tool]. I hope to contribute to the growth of the company by adding an important arm to get an appropriate share of the potentially huge market of the Greater China Area. China's Internet users are projected to reach 10 million by the year 2000, from this year's 2 million. For an expanding multilingual vendor such as SDL, China has a lot to offer."
