SDL, the leading provider of Global Information Management solutions is pleased to announce that it has become a patron of the UK’s leading youth charity - The Prince’s Trust (www.princes-trust.org.uk). Dominic Kinnon, Joint CEO, SDL Language Services division, will join the committee of the Prince’s Trust Technology Leadership Group, which raises awareness for activities that help young people gain employment and provides around 10% of the private sector income for The Trust.
The Prince’s Trust, founded by HRH The Prince of Wales in 1976, gives practical and financial support to over 40,000 disadvantaged young people every year, helping them to gain the workplace skills required to build a sustainable and self-sufficient future. SDL has made a four year commitment to supporting The Prince’s Trust activity.
The patronage also provides the opportunity for over 400 UK-based SDL employees to become personally involved in fundraising and development activities. As an initial activity, 30 SDL employees have signed up to take part in The Prince’s Trust Palace-to-Palace bike ride. The bike ride which starts at Buckingham Palace and ends at Windsor Castle will see SDL employees raise sponsorship funds for completing the 45 mile journey.
“We are very excited to welcome SDL as a patron of the Prince’s Trust Technology Leadership Group (TLG). As a market leader in Global Information Management and a FTSE 250 company headquartered in the UK, SDL is a natural fit to help steer this group. SDL will sit alongside our other patrons which include prominent technology companies such as Microsoft, Oracle, HP, Capgemini and Accenture. SDL is clearly committed to making a positive impact on the communities in which it operates and we look forward to welcoming Dominic Kinnon to the TLG Committee and working with SDL employees as they support the work of The Prince’s Trust,” comments Fiona Timothy, Chair of The Prince's Trust Technology Leadership Group and Chief Executive of Calyx Group Companies.
