SDL International, a leader in the emerging market for global information management (GIM) solutions, announced today a €1m agreement with AGCO Corporation, a worldwide designer, manufacturer and distributor of agricultural equipment, to provide an integrated end-to-end solution for the authoring, management and publishing of technical service documentation to AGCO’s global customers

Having completed a number of acquisitions in recent years, AGCO was faced with a mix of isolated authoring, content management and publishing processes across its core brands of Challenger, Fendt, Massey Ferguson, SISU Diesel and Valtra.  SDL will deliver an integrated GIM solution that spans the entire content lifecycle, enabling AGCO to consolidate technical publications, terminology, content management, translation, web and marketing publications, onto one, unified platform.  With up to 25 languages to support, the new solution will substantially shorten time-to-market, improve the quality and consistency of marketing and service documentation and is expected to provide an ROI within 18 months.

The GIM solution includes authoring of structured content in XML using Blast Radius XMetaL integrated with SDL AuthorAssistant to ensure consistency of language and terminology. SDL PhraseFinder will be used for terminology mining and SDL MultiTerm for enterprise-wide web-based terminology management. Trisoft InfoShare integrated with SDL Translation Management System will support all XML content management, translation and publication processes, with SDL providing the language translation services.

“We needed an integrated solution for the creation, management and publication of global marketing and service documentation in 25 languages across many different manufacturing lines,” commented Kevin Worrall, Technical Service Director at AGCO. “The SDL solution provides AGCO with a corporate common platform for aligning our documentation processes with our manufacturing and engineering centres. By maximizing the reuse of components and fully leveraging our global information assets, we will deliver higher quality publications faster and lower our costs by 30%.”

“We have integrated best-of-breed XML technologies along the content lifecycle to provide AGCO with a streamlined process that spans authoring to content management to translation and publishing,” stated Keith Mills, President Technology Division at SDL. “Together with our best practice knowledge in technology and language services, this GIM solution will help AGCO gain significant competitive advantage in critical business areas such as consistent branding, time-to-market and customer satisfaction.”
