SDL International announces contract with Dell Computer Corporation

Dell will install SDLWorkFlow 2003, SDL’s leading ‘Globalization Management System’

SDL plc ("SDL"), the world’s leading provider of multilingual solutions offering scalable translation technology and services, today announced agreement with Dell Computer Corporation for the implementation of SDL’s Globalization Management System (GMS) - SDLWorkFlow 2003 - to manage the localization of the company’s EMEA Website.

GMS technology enables businesses to reduce localization costs, reduce time to market and improve the quality of localized content. SDLWorkFlow is a Web-based GMS designed and developed by SDL to enable organizations to optimize localization delivery and management. SDLWorkFlow contains a fully integrated suite of applications designed to automate much of the work related to creating and managing multilingual content.

The EMEA website contains product marketing literature and machine specification content. This content is updated every week and requires a fast translation turnaround. By implementing SDLWorkFlow, Dell are ensuring that new and updated content is automatically identified, sent for translation and that all content is processed in a consistent way through SDLWorkFlow’s integrated Translation Memory technology. The automated use of translation memory ensures that translation costs are kept to a minimum through the reuse of previously translated content.

SDL’s system solution was chosen by Dell on the basis of a clear return-on-investment. “We have worked with SDL for some time now and were impressed with the capabilities of SDLWorkFlow”, commented Barry Collins, Manager of EMEA Online at Dell. “It will reduce the time we spend internally in managing translations and updates of product specifications, keeping our customers across Europe updated much faster with these releases in their own languages.”

“Having Dell’s endorsement of our SDLWorkFlow multilingual content management system is clearly major news for the market”, said Keith Mills, CTO at SDL. “Large international businesses can save substantial costs and gain competitive advantage by managing their translation processes in the most efficient manner possible.”
