Equilibrium Teams With Magenic Technologies and SDL International to Dynamically Localize Navigational Elements in Real-Time

Magenic Integrates Equilibrium MediaRich with SDL's Enterprise Translation Server and Microsoft Content Management Server to Dynamically Localize Navigation and Text Graphics

Equilibrium, a leading provider of imaging solutions for the enterprise, today announced the integration of SDL International's Enterprise Translation Server™ (ETS) and Microsoft® Content Management Server (CMS) with Equilibrium® MediaRich Image Server to dynamically localize all navigation and text graphics into multiple languages for the Equilibrium PartnerNet portal.

Equilibrium MediaRich is server-based software that automates image production and enables the dynamic delivery of visual assets to the Web, print media and smart devices. SDL's ETS is a sophisticated machine translation (MT) server product programmed with comprehensive dictionaries and a collection of advanced linguistic rules that automatically translate one language into another without relying on human translators. Microsoft CMS allows companies to create, deploy and maintain mission-critical, content-rich Web sites.

The Magenic integration between ETS and CMS was performed by accessing the ETS API exposed over HTTP from custom CMS scripts and functions. By sending translation requests to ETS, the CMS application retrieves translated text and dynamically presents this as a MediaRich image, text graphic or navigational element in Japanese, Chinese, Russian, French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish.

"We set out to demonstrate that we could translate the text within CMS using ETS, and have MediaRich dynamically convert the text to graphics and generate all the site navigation into different languages on the fly," said Zach Greenvoss, senior consultant at Magenic. "We are particularly impressed with the way MediaRich handled the double-byte character sets for Chinese and Japanese."

"The deployment of multilingual content is not only now an organizational imperative, it must be managed within a truly dynamic systems structure. The integration of technologies such as MS CMS, MediaRich and ETS offers an exciting route forward," said SDL's Marketing Director, Hedley Rees-Evans. "Once large, global businesses become aware of what is feasible, such systems will also become a competitive imperative."

"We planned to redesign and migrate our website to Microsoft Content Management Server within 90 days, and localize it in five languages a month later," said Ron Wood, vice president of sales and marketing for Equilibrium. "Working with SDL & Magenic, we were able to meet both deadlines and exceed our expectations."
