SDL International, a leading provider of multilingual globalization services and tools, now holds a strategic partnership with the foremost supplier of customer driven web applications, Vignette. The partnership integrates SDLWebFlow with Vignette's V/series.

Vignette and SDL International

Vignette's V/Series enables users to dynamically develop, control and maintain the content of their website, a major step forward in harnessing the web to drive business. SDLWebFlow provides corresponding capabilities for the management of multilingual content.

"Today, global organizations require a solution that not only manages their website content but also the various language versions." said Mark Lancaster, CEO of SDL International. "The integration of SDLWebFlow and our real-time translation technology and services will provide Vignette customers with a world class solution. Our commitment to new global solutions includes plans to integrate the Enterprise Translation Server into SDLWebFlow within the next 6 months enabling corporations to translate their dynamic website content into multiple languages in real-time."

SDLWebFlow

When content is altered or added within the V/Series, it is transferred to SDLWebFlow via the CTA Gateway, which provides a way of conducting XML-based transactions between the client's system and SDLWebFlow. Workflow specifications may also be sent with the content.

The system sends notification and translation pricing to the client's web localization representative, who determines if localization of those changes is required. Once in process, the system manages translation jobs, approval and content delivery.

As a result of the partnership with Vignette, SDLWebFlow extends the content management process into the synchronization of multilingual content. SDL's customers also benefit from a suite of additional tools to fully manage the content of their host language sites and hence deliver seamless multilingual versions.

Vignette® V/Series

Vignette is the leading provider of customer-driven Internet applications used by the most successful and demanding enterprises to build lasting relationships with their business, trade and consumer customers. Vignette's software enables organizations to manage and deliver content to every electronic customer touch-point, to integrate e-business applications within and among enterprises, and to analyze the customer's online experience and work towards a lifetime relationship. As a result, organizations have the power to captivate their customers, to build a competitive difference and to maximize their returns and customer value.

Concept of SDLWebFlow's API

SDL International supplies an integration kit for Vignette's V/Series. This integration kit is based around SDLWebFlow's Content Transfer API (CTA), which provides a way of conducting XML-based transactions between the V/Series and SDLWebFlow. The CTA is a convenient and secure method of transferring content, specifying workflow requirements, and requesting status and configuration information. The CTA provides a very flexible environment for delivering content to and particularly from SDLWebFlow. It is possible to customize the content delivery system, incorporating user interaction if needed, and automation where appropriate.

Deploying Vignette's V/Series with SDLWebFlow

Once the client's original source content is identified, SDL International provides all the products and services necessary to globalize their web or e-commerce site.

During the first phase, SDL International will localize the website content into the required languages. Then SDLWebFlow is installed and used to keep the multilingual content synchronized with the English content. During this maintenance phase, content can be automatically transferred to SDLWebFlow where it will handle the workflow of the localization process, manage the QA, and finally, make it available to automatically retrieved by Vignette.
