Language Analyst - Leuven

Main Purpose and Scope of Job As Language Analyst, you will provide accurate analysis of source content, legacy material and client needs in order to define, implement and monitor appropriate methodologies and processes on multi-lingual and language-specific levels. You will constantly seek to enhance the quality, efficiency and productivity of projects, with the help of other production teams within SDL Leuven and the Network Offices. Under the guidance of your Translation Manager, you will make the most of your localization and translation proficiency to bring adequate support at sales and quotation stages. You will be client-facing and will be able to interact with clients as an ‘expert’ for your office when advanced linguistic and translation knowledge is required.

Skills and Experience

Essential:

• French native speaker
• Excellent English
• Professional translation/localization experience
• Experience with working on a large and demanding account and on projects in a ‘lead’ capacity
• In-depth understanding of the work of localization translators
• Good knowledge of linguistic technology and tools, based on practical experience
• Thorough understanding of localization processes and workflows, including SDL’s structure
• Analytical approach, combined with a keen eye for detail and quality
• Process-oriented, with ability to understand the purpose behind the process
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Advanced communication skills, written and verbal
• Good organizational and time management skills
• Client-facing, with experience in client communication
• Team player, people manager
• Proactive and flexible approach, reliable and disciplined
• Process-driven and stress resistant
• Aptitude for passing on knowledge to empower others, including via training
• PC-literate, with proven experience of translation and terminology management tools (sg SDLx, Trados, MultiTerm)
• Good understanding of terminology management processes and tools is an asset

Desirable:

• Other languages an asset
• Knowledge of KbTS and TMS a definite plus
• Keen interest in and willingness to understand new technologies
• Advanced level command of Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel
