SDL, the leading provider of Global Information Management (GIM) solutions, is pleased to announce that it will be opening a new office in Athens, Greece. The official opening of the office is planned for March of this year, 2009, and will initially house a core team of in-house translators, along with a General Manager.

The primary focus of the Athens office will be to provide existing SDL clients with a much stronger, in-house resource for Greek translation work. This will result in a greater understanding of the marketplace, providing high-quality translations and an efficient translation process.  The key activities involved in localization will take place in-country and close to where the best linguistic resources are.

SDL’s global network of offices already spans more than 30 countries and the opening of the Greek office will aim to strengthen the company’s European presence and better serve the needs of the Greek translation market. Commenting on this venture, Cristina Lancaster, Chief Operating Officer of SDL says, “Being located in the capital of Greece will put SDL in an optimal position, not only to benefit from the pool of linguistic resources available in Athens but also to assist both our existing clients and local, Greek businesses in the management of their multilingual assets. Over recent years, we have been steadily increasing our network of in-country offices and it is our aim to continue to grow into new territories in order to serve our clients better.”
