SDL Trisoft and SDL Global AMS selected to meet global DITA requirements
SDL, (LSE: SDL) the leading provider of Global Information Management solutions announced today that AGCO Corporation has selected SDL Trisoft™ and SDL Global Authoring Management System™ to facilitate AGCO’s DITA technical product content strategy.
AGCO is a leading global agriculture equipment manufacturer, providing a broad range of high-tech tractors, combines, sprayers, forage and tillage equipment, implements and hay tools. With an expanding worldwide presence, the importance of developing and translating technical documentation efficiently is key to the company’s strategy. To facilitate this process, the global writing team turned to SDL to expand its global authoring, structured content and translation infrastructure.
AGCO has experienced the benefits of using SDL’s integrated Global Information Management solutions to deliver content to customers in the language, the media and at the moment they choose. AGCO has been engaged with SDL in Europe for a number of years, leveraging SDL’s translation management technologies to reuse content and SDL’s global in house translation services to produce consistently high-quality localized content for international audiences. To prepare for the expansion in North America and Brazil, the technical writing teams turned to SDL again for technology to manage its technical documentation in DITA, the XML standard for technical writers. Adopting SDL Trisoft and SDL Global Authoring Management System (SDL Global AMS) has meant that the AGCO global team is now ready to manage more technical information, multiple brands and global distribution.
AGCO’s regional technical publication centers of excellence will use SDL Trisoft and SDL Global AMS for the creation, management and multi-channel delivery of their critical technical service and operations manuals. These SDL technologies, combined with AGCO’s global strategy that includes the use of a DITA-based, topic-oriented authoring and publishing process, will result in streamlined processes, increased content reuse and a significant reduction in publishing expenses. By embracing DITA and increasing efficiencies in content development, AGCO expects faster time-to-market for its critical product content and significant improvement to their customers’ overall experience.
“SDL makes a lot of sense for us given where we are and what we want to do,” said Charles Dowdell, AGCO’s manager, Global Technical Service Publications. “SDL has a good track record and they’re well recognized. Since SDL Trisoft is the market-leading component content management system for DITA we know our investment is sound.”
The addition of SDL Global Authoring Management System will allow authors and architects to adhere to AGCO style guidelines and company terminology, as well as reuse content that has been previously written. The result will be clear, consistent and accurate technical information that is optimized for an efficient and cost-effective translation process. By implementing an integrated set of technologies and processes throughout the enterprise, AGCO will not only reduce global authoring, translation and publication costs, but also ensure that the AGCO brand is consistently communicated across all regions and channels enriching the customer experience.
